UX/UI Design | Data Visualization | Trader Progress & Accountability

The Trader Dashboard is the heart of the Topstep experience—a place where performance, discipline, and personal goals converge into a clear path forward. I redesigned this dashboard to help traders see not just what happened in their account, but why—and what to do next.

🧠 UX Goals

We focused on turning dense trading data into simple, visual feedback that helps users stay accountable, understand their habits, and work toward funding with confidence.

🧩 Key Features I Designed

Account Balance Timeline:
A clean, day-by-day visualization of account balance with contextual overlays for profit targets, minimum balances, and maximum loss rules. It’s not just a chart—it’s a conversation with the user’s trading behavior.

Performance Metrics Simplified:
Custom-built visual trackers for win rate, average trade outcomes, and risk-reward ratios. Each element includes color-coded feedback and actionable next steps, bridging data with habit-building.

Dynamic States:
From a high-performing trader to one who hit their loss limit, the dashboard adapts its messaging and visuals to guide different emotional states and next actions. Every edge case is designed with empathy.

Light/Dark Modes:
Full visual accessibility with tone-shifting UI across themes. The contrast between focus and readability was carefully balanced to meet trader preferences and reduce fatigue.

🔍 UX Highlights

Personalized, not prescriptive: The dashboard respects trader autonomy while providing subtle nudges and goal reminders.

Designed for clarity in pressure: When traders hit emotional or financial limits, the system responds with clarity—not clutter.

Built-in feedback loops: Real-time visuals help users self-correct without needing to dig through multiple tools.

📈 Impact:

User testing showed improved comprehension of risk rules and increased trader engagement with goal-tracking tools. The dashboard became a daily habit for users working toward funded status.
